When it comes to Messi, the media seems to be letting him off from a bad press. The fact is, Messi is not as innocent as he looks. Just like Ronaldo, he also have issues on the pitch, especially with the referee.
Messi is likely to do protest to the referee in the match, showing that he's not satisfy with their decision. Like every other Barca players, Messi won't accept any of it without a fight, even if he had to receive a yellow for it. Infact, this season he already received a few yellow for his 'argument' with the ref. One of the example is when he received a yellow for dissing the referee in the last El Clasico.
And against Espanyol, Messi had another "discussion" with the ref. He made a protest about Cesc Fabregas disallowed goal and his yellow card for a handball. Just as you know, Messi did a handball right before he passed the ball to Fabregas that later turned into a goal. The ref disallowed the goal, which clearly a good call But instead of accepting the decision, Messi started to protest to the ref, a thing that he shouldn't done if he is a sportive player.
